  • Kent

The trip involved visits to various historic towns, lodging in Kent, and delightful dining experiences.

  • Kingswear and Devon

A return to Kingswear, across the estuary from Dartmouth. We explored coastal towns to the southwest this time, and enjoyed revisiting our favourite places in Dartmouth.

  • Hawes and Wensleydale

We love the run-up to Christmas in our home in Wensleydale. We decorate the house extravagantly, and visit the wonderful pubs and restaurants with their special Christmas menus. I have fun with Christmas baking and entertaining.

  • The Lake District

This trip was a mixed bag. The location in Keswick was convenient and central, but the parking was not onsite, and the space was too small for the vehicle. I ended up leaving Keswick and renting a different place in Ambleside. This is still our favourite town in the Lake District.

  • Buxton and Derbyshire

After a stunning drive across country, I was delighted with the location of what must be close to the best self-catering accommodation I have stayed at. I loved exploring Derbyshire’s Peak District, revisiting many of the places that were familiar from when we lived in Cheshire years ago.

  • Mundesley and North Norfolk

It was an interesting visit to a part of Norfolk that I have not explored before. The town of Holt was a highlight, as were exploring the coast and the Vicarage Gardens in East Ruston.

  • Beadnell, Northumberland

Beadnell is an interesting coastal town in Northumberland, one of my favourite counties. We explored both the coast and inland. The only disappointment was a shortage of nice restaurants, but the smokehouse in Seahouses had some tasty treats to take home.
